Abstract

This thesis analyzes the opportunities to create news firms that appear from the posibility to introduce innovation into industry from university research. We analyze the incubation strategies developed by the Andalusian universities to promete the creation of university spin-off by academics to exploit these entrepreneurial opportunities. The first chapter is an introduction. Second and third revise entrepreneurial and technological opportunities and technology transfer from university to industry. In the fourth chapter we study the university spin-offs as a technology transfer mechanism and its determinants. In the fifth chapter we map the innovation and technology transfer system in Europe. The final chapter is devoted to the empirical analysis of the incubation strategies developed by Andalusian universities to promote the creation of university spin-offs.
