Resumen

INTRODUCTION: It has been documented how the quality of life related to health (HRQOL) is negatively associated with overweight / obesity in children and adolescents. There are several public health programs based on physical exercise whose objective is to improve health in general. However, none have based their program on dynamic physical activity whose goal is to provide social skills and empower children in sports. In addition to this, studies have focused on establishing causal relationships without testing that third variables are responsible for improving the HRQoL. AIMS: the objective was to test the validity of the HRQOL questionnaire EQ-5D-Y proxy and to know the effects of a physical exercise program on children with obesity and testing the mediating and moderating variables of the change in HRQOL. METHOD: cross-sectional and longitudinal studies make up the thesis, where the individuals of two research projects participated, adding a total of 970 children, as well as their parents. Magnitude-Based Inferences and mediation and moderation analysis with Johnson-Neyman techniques were applied to test the proposed objectives. RESULTS: the questionnaire EQ-5D-Y Proxy was valid and reliable. Core strength and agility were responsible for the improvement of the HRQoL of the children involved in the program. CONCLUSIONS: children participating in a public health program improved their physical condition in general and their HRQOL, where the improvement of the Core strength and agility were responsible for this improvement of HRQoL.
