Abstract

As well the title of this thesis, "The contribution of renewable energy to the economic, social and environmental development" is undeniable contribution of renewable energies to the economic development of any human environment as investment means that this economic growth creates jobs and helps maintain social equilibrium, and further that this economic and social development is compatible and respectful of the natural environment in which we humans develop socially and economically. The thesis is divided into nine chapters, the chapters five and six the focus of this paper, which analyzes the development and evolution of renewable energies in Spain during the period 1998-2010. Working hypotheses and objectives proposed in Chapter Three opt for a model of development based on growth through clean energy sources from the current model based on unsustainable production and consumption of fossil fuels, while renewables are not the cause of the tariff deficit. Obviously, it is promoting a legislative framework for the development of renewable energies in Spain, establishing an appropriate legal and economic framework and meet the targets for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, as a member state of the European Union we correspond.
