Abstract

The present research work is focused on the evolution of the amount of physical activity, the regulation of the practice motives and the perception of the body image in the passage from sixth of Primary Education to first of Secondary Education. And to know the influence of the level of physical activity, the regulation of the different types of motivation and the perception of the body image in the intentionality of being physically active in the future. The study is of transversal and longitudinal type using the questionnaire as instrument of data collection. The total sample was students from educational centers in Badajoz (n = 542). The results indicate that students who are satisfied with their body image in both stages . There is a significant association between body image and gender . The students active in Primary Education are also active in Secondary Education. Associations were found between physical activity and gender variables, level of physical activity of the parents and level of physical activity of the friends (p<.05). The Students who wish to practice physical activity in the future in Primary also do in Secondary . Primary school students show higher scores than secondary education in the intrinsic-identified, introjected and demotivation regulation; Some significant differences were observed according to some sociodemographic variables and the physical activity of the family and the peers . The students that are intrinsically-motivated have the intention to be physically active in the future.
