Abstract

This thesis aims to improve our knowledge about the U.S.-Spain relationships during the Late Francoism and the beginning of the democratization process, beyond the approach traditionally adopted by scholars on this subject. Without abandoning a political analysis of these relationships, and also stressing the importance that the geostrategic issues had on it, our attention was directed, preferably, towards the study of the economic variable and the observation of the perceptions around the Spanish situation generated by the reports from the U.S. Embassy in Madrid as well as the U.S. media.
