Résumé
!e purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of education level as a protective factor for legal and penitentiary history and for drug dependence and health status of a group of prisoners. !e sample was � men and their average age was .. years. A life history form adapted to the penitentiary population was used (Paino, ....) to obtain data about several legal and psychosocial variables. Results show that the education level of the prisoners seems to be a protective variable for legal and penitentiary history of prisoners (criminal conduct, entrance in centers of minors, age of entrance, etc.). Also the education level is associated with a late beginning of drug consumption. !ese data indicate the need and urgency of socio educative intervention from the beginnings of the maladjustment process.
