Abstract

Sorne new footprints named as Carnotipus solitarius nov. ichnogen. nov. ichnosp. found in the Upper part of a fluvial Lower Miocene (Lower-Middle Aragonian) sequence located in the Western Middle of the Ebro Basin (Rioja sector), are showed. This one are different with regard to former definitions for the European Tertiary on basis of their characteristic size and morphologies. The trackmakers likely were modern Creodonts or early Carnivorous. The habitat could be a wide plain like to herbaceous savanna where the overflowing of sinuous channels in high flood times should arise to the onlapping lobes and the appearence of some short-time duration marshy zones. The vital activity of the predators remained printed in this environment.
