Resumo

This work is within the electric power quality (PQ) Framework and specifically within the methods used to correct the electric wave poor quality. Different solutions have been proposed to improve power quality. Some of them are based on passive filters and others on active filters. These filters can be connected in parallel or series depending on the kind of load to compensate. The both (passive and active) can also be combined in the called hybrid filter. In this thesis, compensation strategies have been developed for series connection active filters (SAF) and hybrid filters, which consist of series active filter and parallel passive filter (SAFP). The new strategies have been tested in a experimental prototype developed for this purpose.
