Abstract

The ancient city of Panama, or Panama Vieja (1519-1673) is recognized as the first Hispanic Foundation on the shores of the Mar del Sur, home port for the conquest of the South American continent and transit city of wealth, the product looting the Inca empire. Recent archaeological excavations show a long occupation that stretches in time from the year 500 AD until the European conquest. This research provides the results of six years of archaeological research at the site. This place, which was characterized by its glorious colonial past, is now presented with a long occupation that began in the early centuries of the Christian era.
