Abstract

Comparative study of Thomas Mann and Italo Svevos narrative work. It analyses the literary elements that define the main characters of their stories as fragmentary heroes. It deals with the philosophic theories that connect both authors, with the creation of the characters, as well as with narratological aspects of the different works. It proves the similarities, non studied previously, between these two great writers of the European narrative from the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century.
