Abstract

The fact of the business cross-border and transnational cooperation has been questioned and analysed in several countries, reaching the conclusion that this kind of cooperation has made a big deal in the development of some regions in the European space. For these reasons, the province of Huelva and the region of Algarve, with similar characteristics and very close historical pasts, show, to begin with, all the conditions which are requested to make the business cooperation real and the odds come true. However, because of the lack of information about this matter, we decided to move forward at this research identifying the most relevant variables, which explain the development of the potentially existing synergies, which are not concreted yet. The most suitable theoretical support for this kind of research has to do, in our opinion, with the theory of transaction costs.
