Abstract

The main objective of our work is the study of body image (BI) amongst adolescents, their attitudes towards obesity and their physical activity (P A). Furthermore, due to their possible influence on the practice of P A and the students' BI, the analysis of sorne of the characteristics of physical education (PE) and tnathematics (MA TH) teachers is attempted. The objectives ofthe project have been tackled through an empirical study with quantitative methodology. The participants that make up the sample were 1.890 Obligatory Secondary Education students from the Province ofHuelva, and 161 PE and MA TH teachers. When P A and BI are analyzed, it was observed that the students who participated in P A tend to be more satisfied with their BI and demonstrated more positive thinking, less avoidance behaviors and less fear of fat.
