Abstract

The thesis aims to contrast what are the variables that determine the adoption of sustainable strategies in the hotel accommodation. To do this, after an exhaustive analysis of the literature, a set of variables which promote, as well as deceleration and obstacles to such strategies have been established. In the area of the strategy, we have framed the possible strategic axes I half-close to a set of theories widely accepted in the literature, as the Theory of Resources and Capacities, the Model of the Dynamic Capacities, the Approach of the Knowledge, the Theory of Groups of Interest, the Institutional Theory, the Model of Environmental Proactive Management and specially the Model centred on Hart's Natural Resources. The model has been tested on accommodations in the province of Huelva, developing 39 valid interviews between February and May 2014, with managers of hotels and apart-hotels. Has been used to validate the proposed model the PLS technique, so that all of them have designed a predictive model and exploratory whose relationships have been demonstrated with very high significance values. We found specific that hotel accommodation initiate two types of strategies: Proactive Strategy and Orientation for Sustainable Development, which basically translate into: eco-efficlency and improvements in perceptions as other stakeholders have of them. At the time, both constructs manifest directly related to economic performance and positioning of establishments. On the other hand, as the main contribution, we propose a model of sustainable management behaviors defining "benchmarks" which would help successful management of enterprises. In short, the work has achieved focus on designing an itinerary management guidelines allowing directors and managers of tourist accommodations implement sustainable strategies whose results will lead to the improvement compared to accommodations competition, in achieves positioning in the market as well as improved economic performance. To do this, managers must fully understand the market and benchmark practices, implement sustainable volunteer certificates, which achieve efficiency and differentiation. Furthermore, it should emphasize the training of workers and managers especially in regard to matters of responsibility and sustainability and set measurable environmental goals.
