El Turismo Industrial Minero en la provincia de Huelva

Abstract

This paper shows the main findings from the research carried out on the possibilities of development of the mining industrial tourism in the province of Huelva (project supported by the Tourism Department of the Regional Government). Its original contributions are in the empirical part of this research, offering unpublished primary data about the behaviour and degree of satisfaction of this kind of tourist (to be more specific, of those who visit the Riotinto Mining Park), as well as of the attitude of the resident population in this mining area (fifteen municipalities) towards additional tourism development (mainly bound to its mines) and of the variables of perception able to determine it, like its economic, sociocultural and environmental impacts, both positive and negative. The contributions of a panel of experts have been also considered to feed the final recommendations.
