The Iberian Pyrite Belt is one of the most outstanding ore districts of the world, and has the largest concentration of massive polymetallic sulphides. This paper describes the mineralization genesis, the mining and metallurgy characteristics held in Roman times on copper and silver production. The mines are classified by their production type. It also studies the mining territory, their administration form, as well as the infrastructures that enabled these mines to become great industrial centers and therefore places of economic attraction.
