Resumen

While in other border regions in the Iberian «Raya/Raia" (Border) is developing a budding border tourism, where the natural and cultural heritage of the border is the main attraction for the traveler and tourist, this possible and new tourism segment has no presence in the policies and actions of tourism institutions in both, the province of Huelva and the región of Andalusia. Thus, although the border territory of Huelva (likewise Andalusia) has several interesting natural and heritage resources, they are still far from becoming tourist destinations and tourist products that allow a socioeconomic opportunity for this historically marginal and peripheral border area. In recent years the supply of services has been increased and the promotion of some sites of this territory has also been improved, but without putting in the proper asset the border as a main strength, not even the Guadiana river. We believe that is unwise the null promoting this new tourism segment called border tourism. Therefore, the aim of this contribution is to describe very briefly the geographical scope of the Huelva border and its natural and cultural resources, highlighting and evaluating some tourism entrepreneurships, as well as think about the limited tourism development that has been so far and, in particular, the so-called border tourism, trying to get a series of proposals.
