Resumen

En este artículo se ofrece una aproximación a la Historia medioambiental americana. Destaco en principio sus precedentes europeos, pero centro mi atención en las especiales relaciones entre los americanos y su naturaleza en los últimos doscientos años. Distingo tres periodos cronológicos: La Era Progresiva y la Teoría de la Frontera, la Segunda Revolución Conservacionista y la Era de la Concienciación Ecológica. Para finalizar, analizo los principales autores y tendencias en este campo nacido en los años sesenta
