Abstract

In the field of education, the proliferation of research papers based on essentially qualitative approaches has been, without any doubt, one of the most relevant points of the educational research panorama in Spain in the last ten years. However, it is also true that not all the works labelled, from a methodological point of view, as qualitative have suitably reflected and included the requirements which this way of accessing to the object of study demands. This article provides arguments for the moment of adopting an essentially qualitative methodological approach in the development of research papers, emphasizing the demands which derive from this decision and which are often not very well reflected in the research papers presented, without forgetting, in passing, the impossibility of separating the methodological matters from the theoretical and/or philosophical considerations in the discourse.
