Abstract

As in the rest of the political, social and cultural aspects, after it period of methodological immobility, the Spain of the fifties starts to be ready for foreign influences. Regarding the methodology in teaching French, and departing from a situation of clear predotninance of the traditional methods, in that decade, we attend the spread of active methods, which had already been internationally accepted and which join the Spanish High School Education with the publishing in 1957 of the official syllabuses for Modern Languages. In this article we analyze the factors that were present in/provoked this methodological change.
