The area known as �Comarca del Entorno de Doñana�, adjacent to the Doñana National Park in southern Spain, is being subjected to increasing human pressure, largely due to tourism, reforestation and intensive cropping. Major consequences of this pressure include an alteration in the area�s natural plant cover and a modification of its natural ecosystems. Using a purpose-developed 1:10,000 current vegetation map, analysis of plant cover identified a total of 24 habitats eligible for Annexe I of the EU Habitats Directive, through 35 associations and Dehesas de Quercus suber. The maps of the different habitats are presented at the association level, and an evaluation is made of their surface range, degree of fragmentation, priority habitats, distribution and main risks.
