Zusammenfassung

The behaviour of ancient organisms can be interpreted through the study of trace fossils, which indicate directly the types and patterns of their conduct reflecting the diferent conditions associated with these organisms and the environment in which they originated. We can thus establish an ethological classification based primarily on the search for shelter and food, on the surface or inside the sediment, including predation; of a resting place; movement; or a mixture of several of them. However, this interpretation is not always easy to establish. The same producer can originate very different traces simultaneously or successively, which show different behaviours, and on the other hand different organisms can produce the same or very similar records. Furthermore, some trace fossils represent composite or interconnected structures, or are apparently simple systems, but in detail are much more complex due to reworking by others. Some advice and / or simple experiments are proposed in order to do the workshop where suitable material is not available.
