Abstract

The mineralogical characteristics analyzed by X-Ray difraction in the glauconitc pellets of a tortonian condensed sections outcropping at the passive margin of the Guadalquivir Basin have allowed inferring the existence of an evolved glauconite. The time necessary to the formation of these glauconite grains (6% K+) oscillates between 10 and 5x10 years. These data are according to previous works about these same condensed sections. the slight differences found between glauconitas can be related to different basin depths, type of subtratum or the other paleoceanographic factors
