Impacto del VIH en adolescentes y jóvenesAnálisis preliminar desde la Teoría Cultural del Consenso

Resumo

Introduction The main focus of this research is the reconstruction of the cultural model, the knowledge structures or systems that are shared by adolescents and young HIV infected, from their own narratives and based on the Cultural Consensus Theory, to determine the impact of this infection in their lives. Material and method We have conducted 24 interviews autobiographical in hospital “Virgen del Rocío de Sevilla” (Sevilla, Spain). The methodology is to describe, by a thorough ethnographic study, the specific cultural model of the interviewees, following the guidelines dictated by the Cultural Consensus Theory Results HIV accentuates the typical disturbances of adolescence and youth, especially the affective-loving character and can also abruptly and significantly alter the system of life, self-image and expectations for the future of these young, creating painful experiences caused by the social stigma of this disease. Conclusions It has been found that there is a high degree of agreement about the stigma associated to HIV, coinciding with other international research. Is reaffirmed the urgent need to establish and implement a model of social psychology and personalized attention to these people, emphasizing the great value of all information collected in order to plan educational programs for adolescents and young people in general.
