Abstract

Jáuregui’s polemic stance in works such as Antídoto had its last known manifestation in 1635, with the publication of the comedy El Retraído and Memorial al Rey. The targets of his attacks were now Quevedo’s La cuna y la sepultura and Carta a Luis XIII. The present work describes and analyses the episodes of the enmity between both writers and proposes some hypotheses for its causes
