Resumo
In the Huelva littoral, Palmoconcha guttata is mainly concentrated in the fine sediments located between 10 and 18 m. Two morphotypes are distinguished: a) Reticulate, with a robust carapace characterized by thick walls between deep depressions; and b) Punctuate, with a superficial punctuation separated by narrow walls. In winter; both morphotypes are more abundant in the deeper samples and little correlation is found with the remaining variables measured (grain sizes, geochemical composition, temperature, salinity, nitrates and solids in suspension). In winter, the reticulate morphotype is specially concentrated near the river mouths, with moderate pollution levels and high nitrate contents, whereas the punctuate morphotype is concentrated in silty-clayey sediments with high Ni contents.
