Resumen

Of the many and extensive debates that have been made around tourism in the last ten years, the absolute polysemic and varied character of its definition and its research fields can be concluded, generating a diverse disciplinary body that allows conceptual limits to this difficult notion in social, cultural and economic terms. The relationship between tourism and culture has produced a series of effects that reinterpret heritage in the 21st century. Tourism as a global phenomenon has impacted in such a way and magnitude that, many communities, landscapes, sites and manifestations of Intangible Cultural Heritage are redefined, appropriated and understood through tourism activities, making the relationship between culture and tourism acquire new meanings and challenges for their coexistence, as a social, economic and political process. This situation is not different for the Cundiboyacense highlands, one of the geographical spaces with the greatest environmental and cultural transformations in Colombia, which date 14 thousand years, showcases a historical continuity which is extremely rich in culture and landscapes. Today, this social and cultural landscape, built by hundreds of groups and various civilizations, is threatened by the faster economic development of the country's capital, devastating cultural landscapes, environmental systems and social uses that shape the heritage values of this region's identity. A territory that seeks alternatives for sustainable development in the face of the obvious disfigurement of this unique area in Colombia.
