Zusammenfassung

The Odiel river drainage network (SW Spain) is intensively contaminated by acid mine drainage (AMD) from the mining facilities spread through the Iberian Pyrite Belt, in the Huelva province. To assess the contaminant load transported by the different streams of this river is necessary to have data series continuous in the space and time, together with water quality data. Due to the shortage of stream- gauging stations the hydrological model SWAT was applied to the Odiel river basin. An exhaustive collection of information (topography, soil uses, soil types, climatological data, etc.) is needed to supplied the model. To calibrate the model daily data of two stream-gauging stations were used, obtaining acceptable goodness of adjustment between simulated and measured data.
