Abstract

The Huelva estuary is an estuarine system which receives the contributions of acidic waters of the rivers Tinto and Odiel. These contributions are characterized by introducing large amounts of heavy metals in dissolved form in the system. Mix salt-induced and acid neutralization processes originate give rise to the transfer that this metal loading to the suspended matter. This originates that he is this very high concentrations of metals, highlighting the case of Cu, Zn, As, and Cd. In the estuary communities of organism develops filtrants feeding on suspended matter, highlighted by its abundance group of the balanidos (Balanus amphitrite). These bodies concentrated metals in their soft tissue bioacumulando these element. For all metals concentrations in these agencies is very high, showing factors of enrichment higher than 9 in all cases highlighting the case of Cu, Zn and Cd. These results our serious effects that produce inputs of acid water on filtering organisms that live in the estuarine system.
