Abstract

This study verses on REE patterns and their concentrations on Trimpancho river, sited on the Iberian Pyrite Belt (SW of Spain), using the place as a base for a study of the behaviour of those elements on superficial water affected from Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). The river bed has been exhaustively monitored, taking samples before and after the waste rock dump from each mine, the data have been analyzed statistically stating that REE suffer an increase much higher than in other kind of riverine environments. This behaviour of REE is clearly determined from electric conductivity rising both of them with the decrease of pH. REE patters evidence enrichment of MREE on the most polluted samples mainly due to LREE adsorption.
