Acculturation preferences of Spaniards towards Middle Eastern and Syrian refugees and their relationship with the stereotypical dimension of morality

Resumen

Las preferencias de aculturación de la mayoría hacia minorías influyen en cómo se produce su proceso de aculturación y, según el modelo ampliado de aculturación relativa (MAAR), dependen del ámbito (público o privado) en el que ocurre. El objetivo del estudio es analizar los perfiles de preferencias de aculturación de españoles hacia refugiados de Siria y Oriente Medio y su relación con la dimensión de moralidad. Cuatrocientos españoles (50% mujeres) respondieron a un cuestionario indicando sus preferencias de aculturación hacia este grupo en los ámbitos del MAAR y sus percepciones de moralidad. El análisis de clusters identifica tres perfiles en los ámbitos públicos (asimilación como mayoritario) y cuatro en los privados (integración, exclusión y segregación en porcentajes similares). Los participantes en perfiles que implican mayor mantenimiento cultural para refugiados (segregación o integración) en ámbitos privados, perciben un mayor grado de moralidad entre los refugiados (vs. los que no desean mantenimiento cultural: asimilación o exclusión). Los resultados confirman las predicciones del MAAR y el papel destacado de la moralidad en las preferencias de aculturación hacia refugiados en ámbitos privados.
