Abstract

Health promotion is an interventional tool which implies interactions between health professionals, patients and population. The World Health Organization defines health promotion as the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behaviour towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions. It focuses on the collaboration between individuals, organizations, communities and institutions, in order to create optimum conditions which could guarantee health and wellness (World Health Organization, 1986). Since community work has been recognized as health promoter, international, national and regional organizations have looked for stable mechanisms to favor this line of work. Previous experiences and results based on community methodological approach have shown important benefits to patients, professionals, health administrations and communities. This has been proposed as a new vision for the health-disease process. The Andalusian Health Service has started a new campaign called Socio-Educational Groups - GRUSE which will contribute to the improvement of the mental health of the general population. This strategy, which started in 2012, is included in SAS Contract Program and guides Healthcare Social Workers for developing a novel terventional work according to their professional profile. This new model applied in all the regions of Andalucía is based on clear objectives, purposes and contents, together with specific methodology that will help all health professionals to act in the same way and applying the same criteria. Of no doubt, this model will mark a new era for the Social work in health field
