Abstract

At the end of the 19th century and first decades of the 20th, the celebradon of Carnaval, with musical ensembles being one of its main features, becomes widely practiced in numerous localities of our country. This paper presents some of the concerns and aspects on music and ensembles of Carnaval as treated in the author's doctoral thesis. It analyses the relationships of power, construction of ideological hierarchies and hegemonic discourse - in the Carnaval of the period
