Resumo

Competition is considered a fundamental element in the development of sports practice. However, in the sports initiation it is advisable to adapt some aspects of the competition (objectives, contents and rules, among others) to the characteristics of the practitioners, in order to make it educational. From the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF), in line with the project "For A REAL Education: Values and Sport", understands competition as an element that favours education in values through football and basketball. In this sense, the RMF establishes a series of premises for the modification of the competition to make it as formative as possible. The aim of this work was to describe and explain, in detail, the competition carried out in the Sports Schools of these two sports, with special emphasis on the objectives, contents, rules, characteristics and role of the coach in the competition implemented by this Foundation.
