Abstract
Women with disabilities in today’s society are faced with a double discrimination, being female, disabled. This involves a number of social, cultural, family and personal barriers, which make us forget that they are people with rights and duties, with a life project. There is an evident need to implement initiatives combining both gender and disability mainstreams, in order to make equal opportunity a reality in this group. The aim of the study is based on the detection of needs and subsequent evaluation in the community of disabled women in the Association of Women with Disabilities Huelva Luna (Spain). Thus we will focus on working with clients through a structured social intervention program giving priority to the construction of their life project. Semi-structured interviews are designed as a basis for collecting information relevant to needs identification/detection. Both women with disabilities in that association and skilled workers in the field and directly related to them are studied. The resulting data is analyzed to obtain information about the real needs that these women have, which will provide fundamental data for further studies
