In the regions of Andévalo and the Sierra of Huelva, southwest of Andalusia, sword dances and of other similar type (lances, sticks, castanets, arches and decorative sticks) are current integrated in the celebration of a rite, a festive and religious ceremony with solemn character, confined to local practices. The music of these dances is an instrumental music played on the pipe and tabor. In this article we show some of the contributions of the research that we have developed around these dances: their melodies, musical instruments, its context of interpretation..., and its significance in the community.
