Résumé

This work deals with the biostratigraphic analysis of larger foraminiferal faunas of the Lutetian- Bartonian boundary. The studied succession is located at the western flank of the Boltaña anticline, in the southern margin of the Ara river (South Pyrenean Zone, Jaca-Pamplona Basin). In the attempt to recalibrate the SBZs (Shallow Benthic Zones) with the Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale (GPTS), the South Pyrenean Zone has provided adequate sections for a reliable recalibration of the Lutetian SBZs in the External Sierras and the Bartonian-early Priabonian in the eastern South-Pyrenean Basin. Nevertheless, the absence of a continuous outcrop with larger foraminiferal facies for the Lutetian-Bartonian transition has prevented a precise recalibration of this boundary (SBZ 16-17). The stratigraphic record of the Aguilar-Planiello composite section on the western flank of the Boltaña anticline offers a continuous shallow marine succession for the Lutetian-Bartonian transition. At the base of this succession the association of Nummulites deshayesi and N. cf. dufrenoyi allows the definition of the late Lutetian or SBZ 16. The Bartonian (SBZ 17) is characterized by the association of N. perforatus and N. puschi. The identification of these biomarkers evidences de potential of the composite section of Aguilar-Planiello for the magnetostratigraphic recalibration of the SBZ 16-SBZ 17 boundary.
