Cork has preserved cork oak. This noble tree, rooted in mediterranean culture, has perpetuated the way of life of thousands of families in an environment with few possibilities for development. Works and cultural work of the pasture set the population in a territory which based their livelihood on the survival of this mode of sustainable exploitation of forests. But the current scenario of the pasture is compromised by many factors: disease, bad environmental policies, ageing of the population... the emergence of synthetic substitutes of cork. The use of this natural product, man uses the natural resources around them without altering or damaging nature. Will it survive while cork demand economically justifies this ancestral exploitation. In this context, the strategy to follow through praise and make visible the environmental values associated with the mount alcornocal as a differentiator against the artificial, highly polluting substitutes in their manufacture and destruction.
