Abstract

The cases of young people who suffer some kind of abuse by their partners are increasing in Spain. The aim of this study is to analyze the beliefs and attitudes about gender roles in high school students and university students to evaluate if there are differences depending on the grade of study and gender. 6668 subjects, from 15 to 25 years old (18.97 5.04) participed in the study. 60.6% of the participants were women and 39.4% were men. About the grade of studies, 10.2% were students of secondary, 44.5% were high school students, 22.1% students of profesional career, and 23.1% were university students. WeusedtheGender Role AttitudesScale (GRAS) (García-Cueto et al., 2015). A differential analysis of the samples was carried out by the Student´s t-test. The results indicate that women have more sexist attitudes related to the work context and attitudes social trascendence, but in men the results are not significant. Considering the educational level, secondary students showed more transcendence attitudes that high scholl students and profesional career students. Universitary students showed significant levels of transcendence attitudes in all studied contexts
