Abstract
This article tries to demonstrate the canonicity of Federico Garcia Lorca's so called "rural trilogy", composed of Bodas de sangre, Yerma and La casa de Bernarda Alba, not only at a european but also at a worldwide level. After the controversial debates about the canon that have taken place during the last twenty years and the attempts of its reorganization promoted by the american cultural studies, it seems that any writer traditionally considered canonical is under suspicion of having been placed in that position by the ruling classes. In this article we study how Lorca achieves his canonical status by his own merits thanks to the three dramatic pieces above mentioned.
