Résumé

When Las novelas ejemplares written by Cervantes were published in 1613, a new narrative archetype appears in the Spanish literature: the courtly novel. This fantastic style, profusely cultivated by writers during seventeen century, means a development in the novel, substantially characterized, on the one hand, by the confluence of innovative features in the stories and, on the other hand, by devices, which come from other novelistic tendencies in our literature. A new style is outstanding at this convergent melting pot: the Byzantine archetype. The matter of this article is to carry out a study on narrative symbiosis in the courtly novel, with special attention to the Byzantine arquetype, in La quinta de Laura, the last novel collection written by Alonso de Castillo Solórzano, and a special example of symbiosis in the recent courtly genre.
