The aim of this study was to evaluate preliminarily the fertility rate and prolificity index of 54 Peruviancreole goats using the intrauterine insemination with Spanish frozen semen. The work was carried outduring the months of June and July of 2007 on the central coast of Peru. The goats were divided at randominto two groups and balanced for live weight (LW) and body condition score (BCS). Group 1 (n =28) was inseminated with semen of Murciano-Granadina breed and Group 2 (n = 26) was inseminatedwith semen of Malagueña breed. The females were synchronized with intravaginal pesaries containing60 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate (MAP) for 11 days, injecting in day 9, 350 UI equinechorionic gonadotropin (eCG) and 0,6ml of cloprostenol (PGF2α). Laparoscopic insemination was performedat fixed time 44 hours after sponge removal. The mean fertility rates obtained with frozen semenwas higher in the Malagueña breed (46,17 %) than in the Murciano-Granadina breed (17,86 %)(p<0,05). The lambing rate was not affected by the type of frozen semen used
