Resum

The objective of this work has been to study the effect of the feeding level on the beginning of thereproductive activity of goat kids born during the breeding season. Goat kids Payoya (n=26) born duringbreeding season period were used. At the beginning of the experiment they were divided into two groupsbalanced depending on the live weight and the body condition score, differing in the feeding level: Group A(n=13) received a level of nutrition for 1.5 times the maintenance requirements and B group (n=13) received alevel of nutrition at the maintenance level. Daily oestrous activity was detected using aproned males and 6-8days after positive detection a laparoscopy was used to determine the ovulation rate. Weekly, it was studied thelive weight and the body condition score. Any effect of the level of nutrition was observed on the date of thefirst detected oestrous: October the 15 and 29 for the A and B groups, respectively. Neither, the feeding levelaffected the ovulation rate on the first detected oestrous (1.27 ± 0.14 vs 1.18 ± 0.12 corpus luteum for the A andB groups, respectively. These results indicate on one hand that the photoperiod would be the main factor thatdetermines the beginning of the puberty in these goat kids Payoya and on the other hand, the reduced level ofovulation of this breed at the beginning of the puberty.
