Resumen
Violence between couples has every day a greater impact on society. Therefore, all efforts aimed at the prevention of this violence are necessary to avoid, insofar as possible, cases of abuse shown daily in news, some of them with serious consequences. In this study we used the questionnaire CUVINO (“Dating Violence Questionnaire”, in Spanish), a tool to evaluate the victimization experience in youth. The sample consisted of 930 students of high school and the University of Huelva, between 15 and 25 years old, of which 411 were male and 519 female. Regarding the educational level, from the total sample, 57.4% were students from high school, 14.5% middle school students, 9.7% secondary education, 4.9% high grade students, and 13.4% university students. A factorial analysis of the scores indicated 7 different kind of violence (physical, detachment, emotional punishment, coercion, sexual humiliation and gender violence), with a variance of about 66% and alpha values between 0.411 and 0.822. These results seem to confirm the reliability and validity of this questionnaire as an indicator of abuse in couples, and could help to elaborate a solid empirical basis for the design of preventive strategies for the future.
