Abstract

The present doctoral thesis considers the captain of Indians ally as a mediator of half-Blood origin, incorporated to the Hispanic-chilean army, established at the mapuche border – south of Chile. His duties resulted from the necessity of communication and control generated by border dynamics activities developed since “Chilean kingdom” during the second half of XVI century. They had their maximum development during XVIII century and continued until the entrenchment of republic period at XIX century.
