Resumen

News on the Neolithic and Chalcolithic in Andalucia: A View of a Decade of Investigations This paper summarizes the investigations on the Neolithic and Chalcolithic of Andalucia, focusing on a discussion of the period after 1984, the date of the beginning of the Comunidade Autonoma Andaluza, and when the conference Homage to Luis Siret took place. It is in the cultural area of the Southeast (a concept created by Siret) that three morphotechnic groups have been identified and comparatively analyzed: the Sierra Morena, the Guadalquivir Depression, and the Betic Range. The presentation of the data (stratigraphic and chronological, settlement pattern, material culture) in these three areas provides the basis for an interpretation of the chronological sequence in these various horizons: 1. Guadalquivir, with the Neolithic beginning in the 6th millennium B.C. and developing parallel to the tradition of impressed cardial ware. 2. Final Neolithic-Chalcolithic, with open air settlements, without defensive systems with pits, silos; 3. Early/Late Chalcolithic, settlements in more elevated zones, defensiveness reinforced with defensive systems; Bell-Beaker Horizon (Final Chalcolithic), with a material culture similar to that of the earlier horizon, and with a transition to the Bronze Age insufficiently studied.
