Resumen

This paper reports on the investigation of the megalithic phenomenon in Andalucia, whose beginnings occurred at the end of the 19th century, and concentrates on a discussion of work after 1984, the date of the formation of the Comunidade Autonoma Andaluza. This summary is carried out by geographic subdivision – the Guadalquivir Valley, the Serra Morena, and the Serra Bética, of the culture area of the Southeast. The Roundtable of Peninsular Megalithism (1986) and the new management of archaeology did not mark an effective change in the dynamic of investigation into megalithism, as restricted to archaeological investigations in megaliths. Because of this, it becomes extremely difficult to establish frameworks for regional chronological sequences, as well as to make the association between settlement and burial contexts
