Abstract

The research ofports in ancient times is found in the archaeological area ofthe imperial ports, Portus, one Ofits best precedents. Thereby, over the last four years and in the context of different research proPosals and collaboration frameworks between the University of Huelva and the Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica, different excavation and study campaigns have been carried out on the eastern pier eastwest, so-called lantern. In this contribution the main results ofthe first actions on this dock are exposed, which was configured as one of the main ones ofthe port complex by articulating the maritime tramc between the outer and inner docks, as well as with the so-called canale trasverso. The data obtained to date, still in the analysis and study process phase, show preliminary results that allow us to understand, for the first time, the structure's construction system, its diachronic study, as well as the last phases of activity ofthe pier.
