Resum

The aim of this paper is to confirm the different behaviours presented by the solution of discontinuous pile wall with natural filling compared to partially replace filling with blocks of expanded polystyrene (EPS). The results allow us to state that the proposed solution has significant advantages by reducing earth pressure by a percentage that varies depending on the position of the blocks and their volume. The optimal arrangement of the pile wall with an alternating disposal was confirmed, rather than the alternative of two parallel fines of piles with rectangular distribution, because it allows all of them to work equally. lt also can conclude that placing EPS blocks alters the sliding surface.
