Abstract

Tourism destinations are considered as the main unit of analysis such as in the scholar field as the professional. Knowing its structure constitutes the main essential step in order to perform an optimal and efficient planning and management that ensures its success in markets. The development of this thesis intends answering to what elements make possible that a territory configures as a tourism destination. The identified elements respond to a common and required characteristic: they must be measurable and quantifiable. The results confirm that a territory must have a tourism vocation, composed by touristic and ancillary resources, a relational dynamic stemming from stakeholders’ collaboration and a tourism brand equity that make it recognizable in markets.
