Resumen

We present a study aimed at enhancing an individual’s attention via robotics in both personal and educational environments. Our participating sample was formed by a subject with special educational needs because of attention deficit disorder with a particular interest in technology, specifically, in robotics. Our chosen methodology, longitudinal-experimental, allowed us to spend four years evaluating our subject’s attitudes and aptitudes in both environments. We used three measuring instruments to obtain quantitative and qualitative data: questionnaire, interview and observation. Our results were significant: we observed an increase in the subject’s capacity for attention and concentration, acquisition of laterality, availability for group tasks, reflective and comprehensive learning, more happiness, self-esteem and a greater autonomy in the construction of their own learning. We conclude by corroborating the advantages brought by robotics into the subject’s comprehensive development.
